Switzerland-Great Britain, new tax shield

The maximum rate that British tax evaders will pay to regularize their position is 34%, but for most of them it will be a question of paying a tax between 20 and 25% - Satisfaction from the Association of Swiss Bankers.

Switzerland-Great Britain, new tax shield

While in Italy we continue to discuss it in vain, in Great Britain they did it. Yesterday the Government of London signed an agreement with Switzerland for the creation of a real tax shelter. The agreement replicates the one already reached by the Swiss country with Germany and provides that the British can regularize their position by paying a maximum rate of 34%, even if the effective taxation for most taxpayers will be between 20 and 25% (in Italy in 2009 it was 5%).

For their part, the banks in the tax haven will not be forced to reveal their most intimate secrets: the identities of customers. In future they may even bring new English estates into their coffers, provided they are declared to her Majesty's Treasury. For these reasons, the Asb (Swiss Bankers Association) welcomed the new agreement with great favor.

“Thanks to the agreement reached between the two states – comments the Association – customers in Great Britain will be able to build a bridge towards fiscal legality, while safeguarding their private financial sphere. The resulting easier access to markets for both parties, together with the decriminalization of banks and their collaborators, creates an important precondition for the future increase of cross-border transactions with Great Britain”.
