South, Unioncamere: one company out of 4 is a woman

The Mezzogiorno "wins" for the presence of women at the head of enterprises. In fact, with over 474 visitors, women entrepreneurs from the South represent 36% of the 316 women-owned businesses registered in our country. Furthermore, their "weight" on the whole of the productive fabric of the southern regions is greater than in the other territorial districts.

In the South, in fact, the feminization rate (given by the ratio between the total number of enterprises and the female component) reaches almost 24%. In practice, about 2 percentage points more than the national average (21,75%) but also one percentage point more than the Centre (where there are 299 businesses with a feminisation rate of 22,57%), and almost 4 percentage points more than in the North-East (over 231 businesses, equal to 20,03% of the total) and the North-West ( almost 312, and a feminization rate of 19,92%).

In the first 10 positions of the ranking of companies by feminization rate, the Mezzogiorno is present with 7 regions, with Molise (9.853 companies led by women, equal to 28,11% of the total), Basilicata (15.956, 26,71%), and Abruzzo (37.916, 25,78%) on the highest steps of the podium. Trentino Alto Adige, Lombardy and Veneto are the regions in which, on the contrary, female-driven enterprises affect the total least.
