Intesa San Paolo study: Brescia companies will grow thanks to exports to the USA

From today's meeting promoted by Intesa Sanpaolo and aimed at the internationalization of Lombard companies, the possibility of growth for Brescia companies in the US market emerges.
In the recent past, many businesses in Brescia have demonstrated their ability to successfully exploit the important growth opportunities offered by the American market. Between 2008 and 2012, in fact, in the USA there was a strong growth in exports from Brescia (+20% between 2008 and 2012), which rose to around 770 million (2,9% of the national total); growth on the American market continued in the first half of 2013 (+6,5% the trend variation vs. -2,6% in Italy). Among the productions, engineering and metallurgy stand out due to the increase in export flows to the United States; the numbers of chemicals, metal products and beverages were also good, registering a + sign in the first six months of 2013.
Therefore, according to the Intesa San Paolo study, it will be necessary to push further on the international front, increasing competitiveness: more quality, more marketing, more innovation and more foreign participations. These strategies require 'bigger shoulders': increasing the size and adopting cooperative strategies will help a lot in this direction. Furthermore, the system of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) could also benefit from the modernization and internationalization of distribution, with greater difficulty in implementing the leap towards foreign markets.
And the creation of a transatlantic free trade area (TTIP), which provides for the elimination of tariff barriers and the reduction of non-tariff ones (rules, technical regulations and bureaucratic acts that limit trade in goods, services and investments), it can only bring benefits in the long term also for Italian exports.
