It kicked off yesterday in Rome, on Roadshow sponsored by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (Cdp) in collaboration with the Ministry of University and Research (Mur) with the aim of presenting new development opportunities of student housing in Italy. The initiative is an integral part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (Pnrr), which provides for an investment of 1,2 billion euros for the creation of 60.000 new beds by 2026.
Who is the Mur announcement aimed at?
The Murè announcement addressed to managers of both public and private residences interested in participating in the creation of student residences. Each manager can benefit from a significant economic contribution, estimated at around 20.000 euros for each new bed, provided that a rate 15% lower than the average market values is applied. Furthermore, a third of the new accommodation will be intended for students from low-income families, with further reduced rates.
The inaugural meeting in Rome
The first stage of the Roadshow, entitled "Student Housing and Pnrr resources: instructions for use", took place at the Cdp headquarters in Rome. The panel of speakers included prominent personalities such as the Minister of University and Research, Anna Maria Bernini, the Extraordinary Commissioner for university accommodation, Manuela Manenti, in addition to the President and CEO of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, Giovanni Gorno Tempini e Dario Scannapieco. The event attracted numerous representatives of local institutions, universities, bodies for the right to education, associations and the business world.
Cdp: a web portal has been activated to access the resources
To facilitate access to the call's resources, Cdp has developed a dedicated web portal. Here, potential residence managers can submit their digitized application and use an innovative online simulator to calculate the rental amount of the property in advance.
The next stages of the Roadshow
After the Roman event, the Roadshow will continue in the coming weeks in other Italian cities. The next stops are already scheduled in Milan on June 27th and in Palermo on July 1st. These cities were selected based on their student accommodation needs, aiming to reduce the gap between the number of available beds and the target necessary to guarantee adequate provision.
