EBA stress test: 15 Italian banks involved

There will be 15 Italian banks involved in the resistance tests coordinated by the EBA and the ECB: the total in the EU is 124 banks - The results of the individual banks will be announced at the end of October, while the scenario and methodology will be published in April.

EBA stress test: 15 Italian banks involved

There will be 15 Italian banks that will be subjected to the stress test conducted by the EBA. In detail, these are Carige, Montepaschi, Piccolo credito Valtellinese, Popolare dell'Emilia Romagna, Popolare di Milano, Popolare di Sondrio, Popolare di Vicenza, Banco Popolare, Credito Emiliano, Iccrea holding, Intesa Sanpaolo, Mediobanca - Credit bank finance, UniCredit, Union of Italian banks, Veneto Banca. 

In total, the institutions involved in the European Union will be 124: 6 Austrian banks, 5 from Belgium, 3 Cypriot, 23 German, 4 Danish, 16 Spanish, 1 Finnish, 11 French, 4 British, 1 Hungarian, 3 Irish, 2 Luxembourg, 1 Latvian, 1 Maltese, 6 Dutch, 1 Norwegian, 6 Polish, 4 Portuguese, 4 Swedish, 3 Slovenian, 4 British.

The results of the individual banks will be announced at the end of October. The tests, defined by the European Banking Authority in coordination with the ECB, will assess the resilience of European banks and will be based on the assumption of a "static" balance sheet which does not imply new business growth and a constant business mix along the next three years. The methodology and the scenario, however, will be published in April.

The capital thresholds have been set at 8% of Common Equity Tier 1 (CET1) as a minimum envisaged for the baseline scenario and at 5,5% for the adverse scenario.
