The death toll from theStrasbourg terrorist attack: Tuesday evening Cherif Chekatt, 29 years old, of North African origins but born in Strasbourg (he was injured in a clash with some policemen but would still be on the run) opened fire in the crowded streets of the city center on the border between France and Germany, which houses the headquarters of the European Parliament. The attack took place near the traditional Christmas markets and at the moment there are three confirmed victims, but with at least a dozen injured, some of them very seriously.
Among these there is also the only Italian so far ascertained among the victims of the attack: Antonio Megalizzi, 28 years old from Trento, radio journalist, was shot in the back of the head and is fighting between life and death. He is in a coma and his conditions are very serious: “Antonio is in a coma. And he is inoperable due to the position of the bullet, which is lodged in the base of the skull near the spinal cord ”, the young man's family members told the agencies, who therefore cannot be operated on by French doctors.

"The doctors they don't know if and under what conditions it will be able to survive. She is fighting not to die and let us all pray that she will make it,” the father of Megalizzi's girlfriend Luana told reporters. “Unfortunately we know – he concludes – that she is struggling not to die and to go back to living a normal life, but that the two things are not taken for granted at the moment. He has to do it: he is a golden boy, with two degrees, and with my daughter, who has three degrees, they want to dedicate their lives to building a Europe that is even more united and just towards everyone”.
