Boston massacre, two hypotheses under consideration by the FBI: jihad but also internal terrorism

Boston massacre, two hypotheses under consideration by the FBI: jihad but also internal terrorism

No claims, at the moment, for the massacre in Boston (the balance at 13.30 pm in Italy still speaks of 3 dead and over 140 injured, several dozen of them seriously): CIA and FBI are therefore at work to find the reasons and above all the culprits.

The tracks followed by US intelligence, in constant contact with President Obama, are currently mainly two. The first is that of Islamic terrorism, not so much of an organized and international level like Al-Qaeda, but of some isolated jihadist residing in the United States: just a few weeks ago, in fact, the Islamic propaganda magazine Inspire Magazine has dedicated a special issue to this new form of artisanal terrorism, defined “open source jihad”.

This is the most credible lead and, paradoxically, perhaps the most reassuring, given that the alternative that is taking shape in these hours is rather disturbing: in fact we are talking about thehypothesis of an act of domestic terrorismespecially the American far right. Above all, this thesis is supported by the date chosen for the massacre: in fact, April 15 in the USA, and in particular in Boston, is Patriot's Day, and it is also the day on which taxpayers pay taxes.

Could the horrific attack, which also cost the life of an 8-year-old boy, be the result of a ferocious intolerance against fiscal policy? The investigators at the moment do not rule it out: it could be a violent act of protest by a far-right nationalist group. This thesis is also supported by the well-known criminologist Alain Bauer, adviser to the police forces of New York and Los Angeles, who, interviewed by various press organs, declared: "The choice of Boston is somewhat bizarre for an international group: the internal track at the moment is favored".

Bauer also cites some chilling precedents, such as the Oklahoma City massacre in 1995, which arrived for revenge after the bloody police operation conducted two years earlier in Waco to conquer a ranch where the religious sect of the Davidians was based. Or the bomb exploded by an anti-Semitic nationalist in 1996 in Atlanta during the Olympics. “However, there is also the Islamic trail, without a doubt – Bauer explained again -: for example, the double explosion of bombs of this type is very reminiscent of the modus operandi of the Lebanese bomb squad”.
