The Chambers will decide on the adaptation to the European average of the allowances provided for deputies and senators - News also for the elective offices not foreseen by the Constitution: they will keep their salary until the end of their mandate.

The Government renounces to affect with the maneuver on the costs of the policy to adjust them to the European average. An amendment filed this morning expects them to be the Chambers to provide for the cut of the allowances of deputies and senators, no longer an Executive decree.

In particular, if by 31 December of this year the commission led by the president of Istat, Entrico Giovannini, has not finished its dossier on the Italy-Europe confrontation for the leveling of the salaries of the heads of public administrations, "Parliament and Government , each within the scope of their duties, take immediate suitable initiatives” for the cut of salaries. The amendment however, it does not specify any terms.

OFFICERS NOT FORESEEN BY THE CONSTITUTION

For the moment, the fees of the councilors of districts and mountain communities, who will keep their salary until the end of their mandate. The provision contained in the maneuver which establishes that offices are free of charge in territorial entities not envisaged by the Constitution will only come into force "starting from the renewal of the entities" envisaged.
