Stellantis and Exor: Andrea Agnelli resigns from the two boards. The Juventus assembly appoints the new top management

Andrea Agnelli will present his resignation from his positions as director on the Boards of stellantis e Exor. The outgoing president of Juventus announced it while the assembly of the football club is underway.

“My personal decision is that, with the meetings of listed companies in which I participate as a director, I will take a step back” and this choice was made “in agreement with John Elkann, Ajay Banga and Carlos Tavares”, said Agnelli. It is an "essential step backwards - he added - to have the freedom of thought and action that I would not otherwise have". Agnelli will instead remain on the board of Giovanni Agnelli BV

The resignation announced by Andrea Agnelli is inextricably intertwined with the story of the Juventus accounts, subject to investigation by the Turin Public Prosecutor's Office with hypotheses of false accounting, market rigging, false communications to the market and use of invoices for non-existent transactions. Following the investigation, on 29 November Juventus' board of directors has resigned en bloc and today's meeting, January 18, 2023, will have to appoint the new vertex at the helm of the Juventus club.

Agnelli's farewell to the board of directors of Stellantis and Exor marks a turning point in the balance of the financial company controlled by the Elkann-Agnelli family.

“Sports goals and ambitions don't change, just as corporate ones don't. This is part of the history of Juventus which has always managed to combine success on the field with financial balance and great commercial planning". These are the words of the new CEO of Juventus, Maurizio Scanavino, at the end of the meeting of the board of directors of the club that gave him the job, at the end of the meeting.

Shortly before, the new president Gianluca Ferrero had commented at the end of the assembly that elected him: “A thought goes to the fans of this team, who have always been his strength and his heart. I found them lost, doubtful, fearful and worried about the future of our society. And here for the fans I want to be very clear: when I made this commitment, I made it with the idea of do your best for this team. Together with the board of directors and the new managing director we will work to build a future for Juventus that is equal to its past".
