Startup, Chinese record: Xiaomi is worth 46 billion dollars

The Chinese Xiaomi and the tech startup most valuable in the world. After the arrival of the last funding for 1,1 billion dollars, the value of the company has reached a mind-boggling figure of 46 billion dollars.

As reported by the Wall Street Journal, Xiaomi, which has in the production of smartphone its core business outsold all venture-backed rivals, including Uber Technologies, which is stalled at $41 billion. Now Xiaomi will have to prove that it lives up to investor expectations.

However, Xiaomi's value does not represent a historical record for startups. Indeed, in 2011, Facebook had done better: in 2011 the company founded by Mark Zuckerberg had raised private investments, including those of Goldman Sachs, which at the time had raised its valuation to 50 billion.

Xiaomi, founded by Lei Jun, has established itself in just four years on the Chinese smartphone market, the largest in the world with over 500 million users. "This round of funding confirms what Xiaomi has achieved in over four years of activity and is the prelude to a new phase of development," said Lei Jun.
