Italian startups: the first accelerator in Israel is underway

The first accelerator program for Italian startups in Israel kicks off in January. To launch it are theEmbassy of Italy in the Middle Eastern country e Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center, the banking group company chaired by Maurice Montagnese.

Through a call published a year ago, 10 startups were selected (in various sectors, fromhealth tech to the smart mobility, from food tech al cleantech), seven of whom will spend three months at theEilat Tech Center (Arieli Group), one of the leading Israeli startup accelerators to develop new business ideas.

The program will take place from January to March 2020 and includes a stay in the city of Eilat, in southern Israel, equipped with accommodation and spaces for co-working. They are also expected mentor e tutor which will deal with topics valid for all young companies and specific topics depending on the sector to which the singles belong startup. Numerous meetings of networking with successful Israeli companies in related sectors. As required by the announcement, the Italian Embassy in Israel has made available a ceiling of 100 euros which will be donated to the selected startups with a contribution of 10 euros each, of which 8.500 euros for the acceleration program and 1.500 euros as reimbursement of expenses.

"The program is a new tool to exploit the complementarity of the two economic systems: our world-class manufacturing ecosystem and the Israeli one dedicated to innovation and venture capital", he explains Gianluigi Benedetti, Italian ambassador in Israel.

"This initiative is a precious opportunity to offer selected startups access to a concrete international scale-up opportunity, in a process of enhancing the Italian innovation ecosystem", he comments Guido de Vecchi, general manager of IntesaSanpaolo Innovation Center.
