Innovative startups: +14,5% in the second quarter

As reported by the MiSE, at the end of June, innovative startups recorded an increase of 14,5% compared to last March, also representing 20% ​​of Italian joint-stock companies operating in R&D activities.

As published by the Ministry of Economic Development, at the end of June there were 4.248 innovative startups registered in the special section of the Business Register, an increase of 537 compared to the end of March (+14,5%). They employed just under 20.800 workers (16.861 partners and 3.924 employees), about 2.900 more than the previous quarter. They represented 0,28% of one and a half million Italian joint-stock companies, but their weight was higher than the average in business services (0,88%) and in industry in the strict sense (0,35%). In particular, 20% of Italian capital companies operating in R&D activities are innovative startups; the share of startups among software production services companies is also significant (5,3%).

These and other numerical evidences are contained in the fourth number of the structural report edited by Infocamere relating to the second quarter of 2015. There is a wide range of information relating to the sectoral and geographical distribution of innovative startups, the overall and average value of production and share capital, profitability and presence of youth, women and foreigners in the corporate structure. The document feeds the startup section of the Mise portal, divided into various tools for periodic monitoring of the data produced by the legislation on innovative startups.
