Squinzi: "On manufacturing data from Pompeii"

"They are numbers from Pompeii“. This is the harsh comment released by the president of Confindustria Giorgio Squinzi - present at the EU conference in Brussels - on the data relating to Italian manufacturing sector published by the Confindustria Study Centre. In fact, the CSC surveys indicate that from 2007 to today, 55 thousand companies have been lost and that the production capacity of Italian manufacturing has collapsed by 15%: "If these are not data from Pompeii, you tell me".

To get out of the crisis, according to Squinzi, "it is essential that policies on energy, climate, environment, trade and competition are developed and implemented with the aim of re-industrializing Europe by reducing overall costs and strengthening global competitiveness". For the president of Confindustria it is therefore fundamental “proceed towards the definition of a European 'industrial pact', which ensures greater integration and better coordination of EU policies”.
