Spotify launches the challenge to Youtube: the streaming of videos and news is starting

Spotify announces its first revolution. The giant of streaming music, which alone covers more than 50% of the market shares, has decided to change clothes and to introduce into its library also video content, which will be both entertainment and news, as well as live coverage of musical events.

To do so, the Swedish company has struck deals with an impressive array of partners, including the BBC, Comedy Central, Vice Media, Abc, Ted,Slate, ESPN and Cbs.

A small revolution, as mentioned, in which the company led by Daniel Ek decides to stir things up, in the face of a negative trend in terms of net income, which led to a loss of 165 million euros in the whole of 2014. A move which, therefore, could increase the advertising revenues of Spotify and diversify the offer.

A move that will also serve to protect the company against the impact, which promises to be sensational, on the market of Apple's music streaming service, but which also represents the possible launch of an impossible challenge against the giants of the sector, Google (via Youtube) in the lead.

From today they will be available on Spotify new content and theretouched interface Now, designed to constantly offer the user a personalized selection of songs based on theiroi tastes and times of day, but only in some countries, namely the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and Sweden. The only change in the version Italian company which will be accessible immediately will be the new Spotify Running, in collaboration with Nike+. For the rest, as often happens, we will have to wait a few months.
