Spending review: Federfarma announces closure of pharmacies on July 26th

Annarosa Racca, president of the Federfarma trade association announced today, on the sidelines of a press conference, a possible lockout of pharmacies for July 26 as a protest against the spending review measures.

"I planned cuts are unbearable and go beyond the possibility that a national health service pharmacy has of remaining open” said Annarosa Racca, who spoke of the other actions set in motion by the association, such as today's sit-in in Piazza Montecitorio, which will be attended by delegates from all over Italy, going on to fear the possible cancellation of the agreement with the National Health System.

The crux of the matter is the lowering of the expenditure ceiling for local pharmaceuticals from 13,3% to 11,5%, which is accompanied by confirmation, in the event of the roof being breached, of the shelf mechanism totally borne by the pharmaceutical supply chain. "The cuts provided for by the decree, around 40 thousand euros per pharmacy, is the cost of an employee", continued Racca. Federfarma has foreseen a drop in pharmacy employment by 20.000, following the spending review.
