Shootings in Macerata. Several gunshots were fired from a black Alfa Romeo. The shooter was a young Italian, Traini, who was then stopped in Piazza Vittoria. Previously he had been a candidate in the municipal elections for Salvini's League. At the sight of the agents, the man fled on foot towards the steps of the war memorial, throwing away some clothes, then was caught and wrapped in a tricolor. The gun had been left in the car.

According to initial reports, there were 6 injured, some in serious condition, all black foreigners. The shots would have been fired in corso Cairoli, near the station, in via dei Velini and via Spalato, the same area in which the investigation into the death of Pamela Mastropietro took place.

“Stay at home” is the message launched to the citizens of Macerata by the mayor Romano Carancini through the social profiles of the Municipality, while shootings are reported in various parts of the city. "For security reasons all students will stay in school and the buses of the public transport service stopped”, writes the municipality on Facebook.

“Police operation in progress. Stay safe, avoiding open places” the Police tweeted. "Gunshots have been fired and there are injuries," the police continued.

Investigators are looking into the camera images of the areas affected by the shootings also to understand the dynamics and motivations of the gesture.
