Spanish Government: the King says no to new consultations

After the double No to Mariano Rajoy, who did not obtain the confidence of the Cortes in the votes of 31 August and 2 September, the king has decided to give more time to the political forces to try to find a solution to an ungovernability that has lasted for almost nine months.

The King of Spain Felipe VI, for the moment, will not hold a new round of consultations with the leaders of the various parties present in Parliament. This was stated by Ana Pastor, speaker of the Spanish lower house during a press conference: "The king told me that for now there won't be a new round of consultations with the parties".

After the double No to Mariano Rajoy, who in the votes of 31 August and 2 September did not obtain the confidence of the Cortes to form a new government, the king has decided to give more time to the political forces to try to find a solution to a 'ungovernability that has lasted for almost nine months.

We remind you that there will be two months, until next August 31, to form a new Executive. If by that date the parties fail to agree, Spain will go back to voting for the third time this year. Expected date: December 25th.

In the June elections, no political force obtained the parliamentary majority necessary to form a new government, as happened last December.
