Spain: compulsory license for only 38 professions, no longer 80

The Spanish government has finalized the drafting of a bill which aims to halve the number of professions with a compulsory license. The cut will apply to 42 of the 80 professions that provide for the "compulsory colegiaciòn". Only 38, those defined as legal, health and technical activities, will retain the compulsory possession of the licence.

Spain: compulsory license for only 38 professions, no longer 80

The draft law of the Spanish government is ready which will halve the professions with compulsory license - from 80 there will remain 38. Only the professions and activities qualified as legal, health and technical will continue to enjoy the status of "profesiòn con colegiaciòn obligatory".

These include doctors, dentists, physiotherapists, physicists, biologists, psychologists, architects, lawyers, attorneys, engineers. One of the novelties of the bill is the unification of the Order of lawyers and prosecutors. It will therefore be possible to form professional societies made up of these two types of professionals with the advantage, among others, of greater transparency when drafting a preliminary budget.

Finally, a significant innovation of this bill lies in clarifying the "licensing map". Indeed, it will be impossible for a profession to need a compulsory license in one community and not in another.
