Two days after Catalonia (which needs 5 billion to avoid bankruptcy), it is up to the Valencian Community to ask the Spanish state for help: Valencia needs more than 4,5 billion euros to save itself from default, according to what was communicated today by a spokesman for the regional government, which has confirmed what has already been anticipated by the president Alberto Fabra.
Fabra made some statements during a visit to a factory in Castellon, north of the capital. Valencia and its region are in a serious crisis: the debt has reached 20,2% in relation to the GDP, for a total, in the second half of 2012 alone, of 2,88 billion euros.
Initially the request was to be only 3,5 billion, but according to what Governor Fabra himself said, it was necessary to increase it by one billion due to further debts accumulated with some municipalities in the region. The Madrid Stock Exchange reacted badly to this announcement: at 14 pm it lost about 1%.
