Sharp decline in unemployment in Spain. This was communicated by the Spanish Ministry of Labour, according to which in April the unemployment rate fell by 2,33%, which is equivalent to 111.565 fewer people looking for work. This is the best April since the beginning of the historical series.
However, unemployment remains one of the main problems for Spain, which currently has around five million unemployed. Despite this, the Spanish premier Mariano Rajoy commented with satisfaction on the numbers released by the ministry: "We have broken the trend of job destruction and are now in the opposite trend".
