Sustainability, Terna and 7 others in the Glio/Gresb index

Terna, Snam, Italgas, Enel, Enav, Atlantia, Inwit e Ray Way they stand out for their environmental performance. These are the only eight Italian companies, out of 159 worldwide, to have been included in the index Glio/Gresb Esg, specialized in the analysis of best practices in the environmental, social and governance fields adopted by listed companies that manage crucial energy, transport and telecommunications network infrastructures.

In detail, the Glio/Gresb Esg Index, launched in January 2021, was born from the merger of skills promoted by the Glio (Global Listed Infrastructure Organization) - the representative body of listed companies that manage critical infrastructures for the daily functioning of the company and the global economy, with a market capitalization value of 2,8 trillion US dollars – and by the Gresb (Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark), specialized in the evaluation and benchmarking of data on the ESG transparency of companies.

This index has a particular influence on the so-called Sri (Socially Responsible Investors), i.e. investors sensitive to ethical issues, who are increasingly aware of the importance for companies to respect objectives relating to ESG criteria. The assessment for the index consists of different levels of analysis and evaluates the disclosure of companies with respect to the following areas: sustainability governance, sustainability implementation, operational performance data and stakeholder engagement practices.

Specifically, Terna obtained the A rating for the second consecutive time, i.e. the highest rating level (on a scale that starts from the lowest level E). Together with the operator that manages the national network, Snam and Italgas also obtained an A rating. Enel and Atlantia followed with a B rating and, finally, a C for Inwit, Enav and Ray Way.

With this further recognition, the company led by Stefano Donnarumma increasingly strengthens its presence at the top of the world sustainability, one of the pillars on which the business is based. The 2021-2025 “Driving Energy” Business Plan confirms the central role of sustainability in Terna's business, through the definition of specific objectives, aimed at creating value in the medium-long term: based on the criteria of the European Taxonomy, in fact, the 95% of the approximately 9 billion euros of investments planned by Terna over the next five years is by its nature sustainable.
