Science based targets initiative has validated the ENAV targets on the reduction of CO2 emissions judged to be consistent with the actions necessary to maintain the climate warming well below 1,5°C, as indicated by the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement. This is the important recognition obtained by the company that manages civil air traffic in Italy in the fight against climate change.
In the sector of airplane transport, Enav is the first Italian company to enter the Science-based target initiative, while in the world there are only seven companies in the sector that have presented targets in line with the objectives defined by the initiative.
In particular, membership takes place in five stages: demonstration of commitment (sending a declaration of commitment); development of targets (definition of the emission reduction objective); project evaluation (project submission for official validation); communication to stakeholders (sharing with own stakeholders the objective and the strategy with which it will be implemented); dissemination of results (communication on emissions produced and monitoring of progress on an annual basis).
