Sustainability and digitization: agreement between Enel and Aeroporti di Roma

Identify innovative, technological and effective solutions to relaunch the airport sector from a sustainable perspective. With this aim the new one was born collaboration between Enel Italia and Rome Airports. Technical tables will also be set up to define interventions on energy infrastructures, to achieve complete decarbonisation and improve the quality and stability of the service. Thus the self-production of energy through the use of renewable sources, energy efficiency initiatives and flexible and sustainable mobility services.

The two companies have long been involved in promoting the use of digital technologies to enable intelligent and sustainable growth and to make innovation and technology tools for the country's economic and social growth. ADR and Enel have been collaborating for several years in various areas such as energy and gas supplies, flexibility services such as demand response and the management of electricity surpluses (GEO services).

The priority is to actively participate in the change taking place, projecting towards an innovative vision that guarantees the take-off of the connectivity of the future. For this reason ADR has chosen to focus on digitalisation, safety, innovation and environmental sustainability and a few years ago it started a process aimed at zeroing CO2 emissions in 2030, well ahead of the targets set by the European airport sector.

On the other hand, the Enel Group has for some time been committed to implementing sustainability policies in the use of electricity, including in the field of mobility and consumption, and to encouraging the use of digital technologies to enable intelligent and sustainable growth and to of innovation and technology, two drivers of the country's economic and social growth.

“The agreement just signed with Enel – he commented Marco Troncone, CEO of Aeroporti di Roma – demonstrates the will of two companies with a great drive towards the future to create a system to identify innovative, sustainable and truly effective solutions to accompany the relaunch of the airport sector so severely affected by the pandemic. We are convinced that Italian excellence can and must work together for the transformation and relaunch of a strategic sector for our country, and today's represents the first important step on this path."

“With this understanding – he commented Charles Drums, Director of Enel Italia – we are starting a collaboration with a partner of absolute excellence. Thanks to the agreement signed with ADR, we will be able to share technological and innovative solutions in a fundamental sector such as the airport one, creating synergies that can support the strategic relaunch of the sector and of the country in a sustainable key”.
