Sustainability, Banca Generali launches an ad hoc sector

Banca Generali is increasingly focusing on sustainability and does so by launching a new range of protective solutions, which will head up to a specifically created sector. Banca del Leone, led by Gian Maria Mossa, has in fact presented Lux Im Alpha Green, the new sector dedicated to private customers and developed with the industrial advisory of Ambienta Sgr, the boutique led by Nino Tronchetti Provera who since 2007 has made sustainability the cornerstone of his analysis.

“The crisis generated by Covid-19 – commented Andrea Ragaini, Deputy General Manager of Banca Generali – has demonstrated how portfolios oriented towards sustainable investments have greater resilience compared to market shocks, for this reason we relied on the experience of a partner like Ambienta to develop a solution that is unique on the market today”.

Launched on the market at the beginning of March, Lux Im Alpha Green is characterized by an innovative management style. In fact, the sector follows an absolute return approach which invests among the best European companies whose businesses are driven by strong environmental sustainability trends. To achieve this goal, the advisory team led by Ambienta portfolio manager Fabio Pecce applies a very specific long/short strategy.

Indeed, “long” positions invest in them European companies with high sustainable potential, i.e. solid companies with a strong ESG footprint whose products or services generate an impact on resource efficiency or pollution control. The "short" positions are instead selected among companies that present strong doubts about the environmental approach and governance, but also all that production universe now obsolete or in any case put at great risk by the advance of new sustainable styles.

“With this sub-fund we are adding a further piece to our range of Lux Im to allow our bankers to reduce volatility in portfolios and increase decorrelation from traditional assets – Ragaini explains -: already in its first weeks of life, Alpha Green confirmed its own potential outperforming the markets in a context of great uncertainty such as the one we have witnessed. We are convinced that, with the recovery of the various asset classes, the value of this solution will manifest itself with even greater strength".

With Alpha Green the number of compartments available thus rises to 67 in Lux Im, Banca Generali's innovative sicav that brings together the best expertise in products strongly oriented towards sustainability and risk management.
