Behind Rome are Cagliari and Palermo – Campobasso and Bologna are the capitals where electricity is spent the least – Compared to last year, the greatest decrease is recorded in Aosta, the greatest increases in Rome. Saving tips

The Italian city where you spend the most on electricity bills is Roma, followed by Cagliari and Palermo. To say it is the ranking elaborated by SosTariffe.it, which sorts the Italian capitals according to annual energy consumption. In 2015, almost 1016 euros were spent in the capital per year for 4199 kWh consumed, with an increase of 15,5% on an annual basis. Spending drops to 913 euros in Cagliari and stands at 847 euros in Palermo.

To find the first city in the North in the standings you have to go down to fifth place, occupied by Trieste, where 3356 kWh are consumed per year for a cost of almost 736 euros. The capital where you spend the least electricity in Italy, however, is Campobasso, where the average annual consumption is 2932 kWh equal to a bill spent of almost 595 euros (about 421 euros less than in Rome). In the penultimate place is Bologna, where 2975 kWh are consumed per year which entail a cost of 609 euros.

Looking instead at the changes in consumption compared to 2014, the city that has cut consumption the most is Aosta, where the need for energy showed a decrease of 16,3%. Catanzaro and Trento also did well, where consumption fell by 11,3%.

The greatest increase in consumption, once again, is that recorded in Rome, with an increase of 15,5%. Consumption in Genoa, Cagliari and Naples also grew, respectively at +4%, +2,7% and +2,3%.

According to the survey by SoS Tariffe, to limit expenses of up to 300 euros per year, it would be enough to use some expedients, such as abandoning the protected market to choose a more advantageous tariff and concentrate one's consumption in the time slots in which it is more convenient.

More than anything, to limit their bills, Italians should learn to make the best use of the main appliances. The washing machine for example, it should be done at temperatures below 60 degrees, in order to save on the energy needed to heat the water.

as to dishwasher, SosTariffe's advice is to choose a model that can load hot water directly from the network, allowing you to save over 25 euros a year. For the refrigerator, on the other hand, it is better to spend more, opting for a class A++ refrigerator, and save more than 40 euros which is equal to 58% of annual consumption for the refrigerator. A similar argument applies to thedryer.

As for thelighting, the most effective advice is to switch to LED lamps, saving over 40 euros, or 73% of lighting consumption. To save on consumption of the iron you should hire some practical measures such as hanging the laundry well to reduce creases, not leaving the iron on unnecessarily, piling up more items and ironing them together to reduce use, starting with the things to iron cold while the iron heats up and then move on to those with high temperature.

Still on the electricity consumption front, today's news is the figure on electricity outages for which distributors are responsible for 2014 which, according to theElectricity, Gas and Water Authority, has touched a new all-time low in number and duration.

In fact, on a national average, interruptions without notice reached 37 minutes against 39 minutes in 2013 and 131 in 2000. The absolute value of interruptions is around 3 in the 12 months. A result that is also the result of the mechanism of bonuses and penalties introduced by the Authority to make the distribution service more efficient.
