Finmeccanica SOS: resources and partners are needed

Finmeccanica SOS: resources and partners are needed. The request was launched by the managing director Giuseppe Orsi, after hearing from the Senate Labor Commission. The manager was clear: the company does not have sufficient strength and resources to maintain excellence and competitiveness in all the numerous sectors that it belongs to. In order not to be swept away by the market, it must therefore make choices. This is the case in the transport sector, in which it is desirable that other companies, which find their core business here, are willing to invest.

“The problem is therefore not that of closing a certain plant – underlined Orsi – but of ifind a partner. In the meantime, restructuring is needed”. In the case of AnsaldoBreda – as recalled by the CEO of Finmeccanica – the management has been replaced and a business plan is being prepared. AnsaldoBreda can therefore become the leader of the district. The same goes for BredaMenarini. In the case of Alenia, the end-of-year guidelines were not given, given the company's critical situation, which must become competitive on the market, in order to continue working with companies of the caliber of Boeing and Airbus and to restore Alenia Aeronautica's own historical position.

“The plan has less dramatic implications than expected – Orsi pointed out – given that alongside the exit with the accompaniment of many workers, the hiring of 500 people, mainly young people, is expected. The investments in the plan are mainly in the South". But Orsi insisted on one point: "Finmeccanica does not have sufficient resources to operate alone" and therefore it is desirable that in the next decree-law for development "fundamental activities for the Group will be refinanced".

A mention also of the recent legal news events: "The company's legal problems, moreover often emphasized by the press, certainly don't help Finmeccanica, even if the team tries not to be excessively distracted by them".

Lastly, as regards Libya, Orsi assured that contractual relations will be reactivated as soon as the political conditions make it possible.
