It comes alive. December Swg Political Observatory seeks to photograph the intricate Italian situation after the resignation announced by Monti and the "abrupt end of the legislature" evoked by Napolitano which sanctioned the kick-off of an electoral game that will live in a short time, with the delivery of the lists set within three weeks.

Confidence in the prime minister has continued its slow decline in the last month, losing another percentage point and reaching 35%, close to the lows of last June. The centre-right denied trust in Monti, as well as in Parliament, while the centre-left voters essentially maintained their consensus.

Also the hypothesis of a re-nomination of the outgoing president does not find many positive responses, so much so that only 24% of respondents declared themselves in favour, against 61% of those against. For 44% of citizens, therefore, Monti should limit himself to carrying out only his activity as a senator for life.

Then there is the chapter on voting intentions. At a time when the lack of clarity of the sides in play and the uncertainty as to who "will take the field" makes the context particularly uncertain, the only certainties, at the moment, seem to be those of the Democratic Party, which can boast clear leadership, expressed through a movement, the coalition primaries, which has received a notable turnout. The Democratic Party, therefore, gains a good 5 percentage points compared to the month of November, settling at 31%.

The 5 Star Movement, despite paying for some internal landslides such as the expulsion of Favia, Salsi and Pirilli, losing something in terms of consensus (from 21,5% to 19%), confirms itself as the second Italian party ahead of to the PDL which goes from 15% to 16,5%, but splits around the figure of the leader Silvio Berlusconi, father, but perhaps no longer master of the party, generating the concrete risk that at least one of the two souls of his electorate (the one who awaits the return of the "Anointed One of the Lord" and the one who, on the other hand, would favor his retirement ) gets seriously burned. The League, on the other hand, waiting to untie the knot on the alliance with the PDL, stands at 6,5% with a very slight recovery.

The UDC and Fli remain stable in their limbo, firm on their usual levels of consensus (5,5% and 2% respectively), while the movement "Towards the Third Republic" appears on the centrist scene, at 2%. But the whole center, at this moment, is mostly waiting to understand what Monti will decide to do.
