It's going badly for former Greek premier Alexis Tsipras, in view of the elections scheduled for Sunday 20 September. Strengthened by a fairly consolidated advantage until a few days ago, according to the latest polls Syriza, the majority party of the outgoing government and of which Tsipras is leader, is still ahead but by just 0,4 percentage points over the main centre-right party, New Democracy.
This is what emerges from a survey published by the online newspaper Alco. Syriza, in strong decline in consensus after the internal split following the recent vicissitudes of the Greek country, is credited with 23%, while New Democracy with 22,6%. The elections will be held on 20 September and 14% of voters say they are still undecided. Compared to a survey published by Alco last Sunday, the gap between Syriza and New Democracy has narrowed further by 1,5 percentage points.
