Terrorist massacre in southwestern Somalia. This morning a car bomb was hurled at an African Union base in the city of Ceel Cado. The attack was claimed by Islamic terrorists of al-Shabaab, linked to al-Qaeda.

According to the Somali army, the jihadists managed to penetrate the walls of the military post. The BBC claims that at least 60 Kenyan soldiers of the AU peacekeeping forces have died. 

"There was hard fighting", the army announced, adding that the al-Shebab commando entered the base thanks to the passage by the suicide bomber.

The attacked military base is operated by Kenyan peacekeepers and is located about 550 kilometers from Mogadishu, close to the Kenyan border. 

Born in the second half of the 2012s, the al-Shabaab group, which in Arabic means "youth", has been affiliated with al-Qaeda since February 2011. After being deposed from control of Mogadishu in mid-XNUMX, the terrorist group took office in vast rural areas of Somalia, from where he launched guerrilla operations and kamikaze attacks both in Somalia and in Kenya.
