Sole 24 Ore: Prosecutor opens investigation into the accounts

The economic woes of Il Sole 24 ore (277 million losses since 2010, without considering the collapse of the stock on the Stock Exchange) are being examined by the judiciary. The Milan Public Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation file without any hypothesis of crime or suspects on the accounts of the Confindustria newspaper.

In recent days, the consumer association Adusbef had presented to the chief prosecutor, Francesco Greco, a complaint in which he hypothesized the falsity of the financial statements.

The situation of the Sole 24 Ore therefore runs the risk of becoming even more complicated after the red light that emerged following the approval of the half-yearly results and the truth-transaction that caused the resignation of 5 members of the board and of the chairman Giorgio Squinzi.

"We are an open book, maximum transparency and maximum tranquility", replies the 24 Ore Group on the news of the opening of an investigation by the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office into the accounting situation.

In this context it is necessary to underline the heavy losses recorded by the share on Piazza Affari. Today the shares of Il Sole 24 Ore are down 1,24%, the monthly drop is instead equal to 26,56%.
