Sole 24 Ore: after Moscetti also President Fossa leaves

Complicated period in the Sole 24 Ore house: after resignation of the managing director Franco Moscetti (which arrived less than two years after his inauguration, due to the decline in copies sold) last June 12, the president Giorgio Fossa also resigned. The decision was communicated late Friday afternoon. "Hereby, in spite of myself and in consideration of the situation that has arisen - he explained -, I am forced to resign from office of the board of directors of this company, effective immediately”.

“I am sorry to interrupt the journey undertaken – added Fossa in his farewell message – at a still delicate moment in the life of the group but I am convinced that the renewal process, started in the 19 months since my appointment, has already shown its positive effect, so that whoever succeeds me will be able to continue on the path started, without slowing down the positive work achieved so far".

During the Moscetti-Fossa management, the Sole 24 Ore group managed to return to profit (but with non-recurring capital gains linked to asset sales) and cut costs by over 42 million euro, but Confindustria, the controlling shareholder, did not seem to be satisfied with the results obtained, both on the publishing front and on that of revenues, which fell to 229 million also due to the sale of 49% of the Business Schools.

Meanwhile, for the replacement of the managing director, the totonomi has already been open for a few weeks: according to the rumors at the head of the group - which publishes not only the newspaper but also Radio24 and the Radiocor news agency - Giuseppe Cerbone could arrive, today CEO of Ansa and in the past general manager of Il Sole 24 Ore. The position of the director of the newspaper, Guido Gentili, remains in the balance.
