From Tuesday 18 July the municipalities will begin to communicate which families will be able to benefit from the social card “Dedicated to you”, the shopping card containing 382,5 euros which will be distributed at post offices. Meanwhile the Ministry of Agriculture has released the list of purchasable products with the solidarity card launched to help families in economic difficulty cope with inflation and the consequent increase in food prices. 

Social card “Dedicated to you”: what can you buy?

Yes to fish, but only if fresh, yes to honey and no to jam. Ok for fresh and processed vegetables, milk and its derivatives, eggs and oil. Vinegar? Yes, but not the balsamic one. Alcohol and fizzy drinks are strictly prohibited. These are some of the rules imposed by the ministry on possible purchases through the social card. "There are almost all food products," said the minister Francesco Lollobrigida. “I identified those products, among the foodstuffs, which had a consolidated production of an internal nature”, therefore “90% of the list refers to products deriving from our territory”. 

Here the complete list of purchasable foods and beverages:

• pork, beef, poultry, sheep, goats, rabbits
• fresh fish
• milk and its derivatives
• egg
• olive and seed oil
• bakery products (both ordinary and fine), pastry and biscuits
• pasta
• rice, barley, spelled, oats, malt, corn and any other cereal
• cereal flours
• fresh vegetables, processed
• peeled tomatoes and tomato preserves
• legumes
• seeds and oleaginous fruits
• fruit of any type
• food for babies and toddlers (including formula milk)
• natural yeasts
• natural honey
• sugars
• cocoa powder
• chocolate
• mineral waters
• wine vinegar
• coffee, tea, chamomile

Social card: special discounts are provided for beneficiaries

The Ministry of Agriculture has entered into specific agreements with all participating establishments, belonging to large-scale retail trade and beyond, for the application of a additional 15% discount in favor of cardholders. The discounts can be combined with the discounts already applied. If there is already a 30% discount on a product that can be purchased with the card, "the reduction reaches 45% and so on", explains the ministry.

Social Card “Dedicated to you”: who will receive it

The beneficiaries of the measure do not have to apply, but are identified among citizens belonging to families (consisting of at least three people), residing in the Italian territory, in possession of two requirements:

  • registration in the Registry of the Resident Population (municipal Registry); 
  • Same ordinary not exceeding 15.000 euros. 

However, the contribution is not attributed to households with citizenship income or inclusion income, Naspi or Dis-Coll, mobility allowances, solidarity funds for income integration, wage supplementation fund (CIG), any other form of wage integration for involuntary unemployment provided by the state.

Where you can use your card and where to check your balance

The spending card can be used in all commercial establishmentsi who sell basic foodstuffs, he stresses the Ministry of Agriculture.

The balance of the social card can be checked at all Poste Italiane ATMs. It has not yet been confirmed whether it will also be possible to carry out the verification from the personal area of ​​the Poste site.

How to activate the social card from July 2022

The card must be activated no later than September 15th. To do this, it will be enough make a payment. After the first activation, the funds will remain available to the beneficiary families until the end of 2023.
