Snam, net profit down by 10,8% due to the Robin Hood tax

The increase in taxation caused a decrease in the adjusted net profit in the first months of 2011 compared to the previous year, but in the last quarter revenues grew by 4,5%. The gas introduced into the transport network drops by 1,5% to less than 60 billion cubic metres

Snam, net profit down by 10,8% due to the Robin Hood tax

The Snam Rete Gas SRG.Mi group closed the first nine months of 2011 with an adjusted net profit (excluding extraordinary items) down by 10,8% to 738 million euro, while in the third quarter profits amounted to 162 million euros on revenues up 4,5% to 2,410 billion euros, according to a statement.

To affect the decline in profitability, the increase in taxation, linked to the tightening and extension of the Robin Hood tax also to gas transport and distribution companies, quantified in the nine months at 145 million euros.

The gas introduced into the transport network fell by 1,5% to 59,44 billion cubic metres. “We remain focused on investing for a profitable and remunerative growth for our shareholders by confirming our investment plan and the announced dividend policy. We maintain the usual focus on operational efficiency, rigorous financial discipline and a solid capital structure”, commented the CEO, Carlo Malacarne.
