Snam: Stogit warehouses are over 95% full. Closed the natural gas injection campaign

The gas available in the storage systems amounts to 11,2 billion cubic metres, to which must be added 4,5 billion cubic meters of strategic storage.

Snam: Stogit warehouses are over 95% full. Closed the natural gas injection campaign

Snam concluded, on 31 October, the campaign of natural gas filling in the subsidiary's warehouses Stogit. The operation made it possible to reach the 95,2% fill equal to 11,2 billion cubic meters of gas. This storage reserve adds to the strategic one which amounts to approximately 4,5 billion cubic metres.

This fill represents a increase of 5% compared to the average of European stocks over the last 5 years and will make it possible to meet the demand for gas during the winter period. The operation was used to optimize winter supply and to build a starting point for next summer's campaign when it will be necessary to replace the approximately 2 billion cubic meters stored this year from Russia.

Snam, CEO Venier: "The result achieved is essential for next winter"

The over 90% fill milestone has proven to be a success for Snam as stated by the CEO Stefano Venier: “The result achieved is essential for next winter and it certainly wasn't conceivable even just last July, when the goal set at 90% seemed very challenging in itself”.

The supply of gas through the storages will take place in the coming months and will follow the guidelines of the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security on the basis of transparent auction mechanisms.

From November 1st Stogit he also activated a new injection service in "counter-flow". This operation will allow the operators, during the winter supply campaign, to have the gas available also in the months of November and December transferred to the fields. Thanks to this new tool, it is possible to preserve quantities of gas in the reservoirs during the peak demand period, guaranteeing maximum delivery during the coldest days.
