Snam: Mou on the Ukrainian gas network

The company led by Carlo Malacarne, together with the Slovakian company Eustream and the Ukrainian companies Naftogaz and Ukrtransgaz, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the basis of which a joint assessment will be made regarding the opportunity to collaborate in the management and modernization of the gas network of Ukraine.

Snam, together with the Slovak company Eustream and the Ukrainian companies Naftogaz and Ukrtransgaz, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the basis of making a joint assessment regarding the opportunity to collaborate in the management and modernization of the gas network in Ukraine.

The agreement was signed alongside the Energy G7 held on 9 and 10 April in Rome, in the presence of the European Commissioner for Climate and Energy Miguer Arias Canete, the Minister of Economic Development, Carlo Calenda and the Ukrainian Minister of Energy, Ihor Nasalyk.

The Memorandum is also aimed at supporting the reliability of natural gas transportation in Ukraine, in line with European market standards, ensuring the management of the Ukrainian gas transportation system and making it more accessible to third parties in line with current legislation.

According to the terms of the Memorandum, the companies will carry out a joint assessment on the management and modernization of the Ukrainian gas network in order to make the country's gas transportation system more efficient, modern and competitive. Ukraine is implementing the unbundling of the natural gas transmission operator (TSO) from the vertically integrated operator Naftogaz and has expressed its interest in cooperating with Western operators experienced in the operation of the national gas transmission system, in accordance with the law which regulates the natural gas market.
