Snam launches a campaign to raise awareness of gas consumption which, meanwhile, is recording a drop in demand

Snam, the energy infrastructure company headquartered in San Donato Milanese, has launched a new institutional campaign aimed at making citizens aware of the conscious and responsible use of energy to ensure the country's energy security and a sustainable future.

The title of the campaign is "Small gestures, big impact” and means promote the adoption of small behaviors newspapers in gas consumption that allow citizens to save money, be more sustainable and also contribute individually to the better management of the country's energy reserves, or the "storage" of natural gas.

Small gestures that can make the difference.

The launch, disseminated on the main national press and digital media, is carried out in the winter months of January and February, statistically colder periods which record a growth in demand which must be met by drawing heavily on gas stocks.

Reduce energy consumption

The campaign was born in agreement with the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security and fits into the context of EU regulations and of the Ministry itself, which have ordered a series of interventions aimed at reduction of energy consumption.

In the plan there are containment measures such as the introduction of temperature limits in the rooms, the daily hours of ignition and the duration of the heating period according to the climatic bands of the national territory.

On Snam, thanks to a "counter" which provides the estimate of the national daily gas demand, the days in which it is even more important are indicated reduce unnecessary consumption, applying some tricks and practical advice that are part of the energy saving decalogue created by renovat, Italian platform to promote energy efficiency, controlled by Snam and participated by CDP Equity.

The demand for gas falls

In the last quarter of 2022, meanwhile, there was a net drop in gas demand. From a demand of 2021 billion cubic meters in 22,5, we moved on to a demand of 16,6 billion, a significant contraction (-5,6 billion cubic meters) which can be attributed to more than half (-3,1 billion cubic meters) to drop in demand from distribution networkswhich mainly feed civilian users.

The reduction also contributed to theweather effect milder that characterized the last part of 2022.

Comparing the whole of 2021, a drop in overall gas demand emerges, which falls from 75,1 billion cubic meters in 2021 to 67,4 billion cubic meters in 2022.
