Snam launches HyAccelerator for hydrogen startups

HyAccelerator debuts today. It is launched by Snam which presents it as "the first accelerator program on a global scale for startups focused on hydrogen and managed by a company".

The debut of HyAcceleratori takes place with the opening of the first call for startups, dedicated to players active along the entire hydrogen value chain, from transport to storage to final uses.

“The goal of HyAccelerator – said Cosma Panzacchi, Executive Vice President Hydrogen of Snam – it is to boost the development of the hydrogen ecosystem by focusing on the most promising technologies and facilitating their market entry”. Snam therefore stands as an enabler of the hydrogen supply chain in which it is investing many resources of its industrial plan with the aim of reaching a 20-25% share of hydrogen in the network by 2050.

The selected startups will benefit from support and an acceleration path that can last from 4 to 6 months, obtaining support on research and development as well as mentorship, networking and testing sections of the solutions that will be identified.

At the end of the process, the startups will carry out feasibility studies together with Snam for future pilot projects in hydrogen. In this way, Snam aims to explore and support the technologies with the greatest potential to accelerate the development of hydrogen and contribute to the decarbonisation efforts of the economic system, in line with national and international climate objectives.

HyAccelerator aims to select the best startups in the various possible fields of activity for the use of hydrogen in terms of energy transition. It therefore ranges from production, to solutions for hydrogen storage, to industrial end uses and for retail consumption.
