Smartphone: the apps that help our animal friends

Now we can use smartphone apps to take care of our animal friends: from their health to meeting their fellow animals. Even in the world of social media.

Smartphone: the apps that help our animal friends

Taking care of an animal is not easy. Why not let the apps help us here too? Let's face it: an animal is almost like a child. A child who needs constant attention and care because he completely depends on us. Dealing with an animal is both pleasant and problematic, but fortunately the advance of technology comes to our aid. Today they exist various smartphone applications that make everything easier: from treatment to finding a dog sitter, from veterinary advice to social networks for animals.

It therefore seems that technology is advancing and proceeding in the right direction; the business of Apps for pets promises well, let's see some applications together which could be useful for us to manage our pets.

Dog Health

Health is important and so is that of our four-legged friends. Dog Health is aFree Application for smartphones dedicated completely to the dog. You don't need to register. Within the App we have a space dedicated to the pet's personal data (name, height at the withers, weight, date of birth, number of microchips) and a space dedicated to visits.

But there's more: the App, in fact, comes to meet us by helping us in the vaccination management, administration of pesticides and medicines. In addition, you have the ability to know the name and address of veterinary clinics in your area, just in case. The free version allows you to manage a single pet, but by upgrading to the premium version you will be able to have more profiles and manage a lot of additional data of your animal companions.

As we said, Dog Health is an App exclusively for dogs, there is no possibility to manage and monitor the health of a cat, a horse, or maybe a bird. To make up for this lack, the same author of Dog Health, Luca Biasotto, has developed Pet Health.

Pet health it looks like the application dedicated only to dogs and retraces its logic, with the substantial difference that it is an App dedicated to dogs, cats, birds, fish, horses, rabbits… In short, with this app we can even afford to have an entire farm. Unlike Dog Health, this App does not have a free version.

11Pets: Pet Care

Another free App focused on the care and welfare of the animal. 11Pets looks like Dog Health/Pet Health, but has the particularity of having thehistorical history of the animal accessible with a click. This is an aspect that should not be underestimated because it makes everything much simpler and more immediate.

The application, which is free, also serves to show the veterinarian the evolution of a symptom, so that it is easier for him to understand the problem of our pet. Photos, notes, particular events... we can store everything on the application, with the possibility of consulting the "history" of everything. Let it be clear, this application (but it also applies to all the others) must not replace a veterinary doctor, and least of all must we or can we elaborate a diagnosis on the conditions of our animal or even a hypothesis of treatment on our own. The application, like the rest of the others, only provides help, but can never replace a professional in the sector.

dog walk

There are many differences between dogs and cats, especially in the daily habits that are somehow imposed on us. Cats that tend to be sedentary and dogs that are much more "mobile": it is a fact. In fact, dog owners will go out for a walk at least 3-4 times a day. Dog Walk is the right tool, and free, for manage your dog's walking times. Through GPS we can check the route, put markers in the places where he needs, take pictures and share them with friends. Mainly the App has been designed to monitor the times of the walks and the length; it is often used by dog sitters to show dog owners the path to show that they are working and is therefore a good way to keep an eye on your pet even when you have entrusted it to someone else.

Dogalize

And in a world increasingly dependent on the internet and sharing, could a social network totally dedicated to cats and dogs be missing? Obviously not. Dogalize is the space that every pet owner would like. A free sharing space where the main feed is photos of our furry friends, phrases, comments and aphorisms always concerning animals. A real social network for dogs and cats.

But it's not just this. In fact, the application provides the possibility of chatting directly with veterinarians or educators to receive advice and opinions on the conditions of our friends. Another interesting thing and not to be underestimated is the "Map" section. Here we can search for "pet friendly" places and premises, i.e. accessible to animals, such as parks, restaurants, pubs, shops, etc.

Being always informed about the news of the animal world could sometimes be an advantage. Dogalize also provides for this: there is a blog inside dedicated to all the news of the animal world.

But Buddy

When we don't have time to walk our dog, we call a dog sitter. Sometimes it might be hard to find, but this is where Dog Buddy comes in, an application that allows you to quickly find a dog sitter.

It is a very simple and intuitive App. With a few steps we can find a dog sitter or dog walker, according to our needs. Just browse the classifieds section to see what the market offers. Every dog sitter and dog walker has a rating (stars) and of course reviews left by people who have previously trusted them. The dog sitter/walker via smartphone, he can update us on the activities he is doing with our dog and show us the route of the walk we just made.

This application is also free, but veterinary and insurance coverage is included in the transition. In addition, dog sitters/walkers can take advantage of customer support should they need help.

petbacker

Another application in the vein of Dog Buddy for finding a sitter. Here too everything is very simple and immediate: just look for a sitter based on the services they offer and chat to see if it's right for us. The application was not born for the Italian language and the translation, which was recently implemented, could still have some flaws.

Call Your Cat

Who has a cat knows that often could disappear, almost into thin air, even if closed inside the house. We know he's somewhere in our apartment, but is he hiding somewhere? It could be minutes or hours before we find it again. Call Your Cat could be for us if we are in a hurry to find our furry fluff. The App by Friskies, the same manufacturer of cat food, emulate interested sounds for the ears of our friends. Maybe the sound of a triangle, or a cat's meow, or even a bird's cry. Most likely one of the available sounds will attract our cat.

a dog

Hundo is an application for dogs thanks to which we can create a profile for our pet that we can then share with other enthusiasts. Hundo's real strength, however, lies in the dog breed database: we can browse a catalog to know everything about dogs. Inside, then, there is a section dedicated to dog shows, curiosities of the canine world and veterinary advice.

Hundo also helps in case of loss of a dog: in fact, it is possible to create an announcement to find it again.
