Smartphone, Huawei grows by 44% and becomes the world's third largest producer

The only position to conquer was that, the third. Nothing could do against the dominance of Samsung and Apple, but Huawei conquered the world podium of the best-selling smartphones, overcoming the competition from its Chinese compatriots Lenovo and Xiaomi and the Korean LG. In 2015, according to data from the IDC study, Huawei has sold more than 100 million smartphones, 108 to be precise, growing by 44%, or more than four times faster than the market, which in the last calendar year recorded a +10% to 1,4 billion devices sold.

This performance applies to the Chinese manufacturer the 7,4% of the global market share, now almost triple that of historical brands such as Sony, Blackberry and Nokia, all three below 3%. However, the target market remains mainly the domestic one: in Europe Huawei does not exceed 4-5% of the market share, even behind Wiko. The strategy, according to an analysis that Le Figaro dedicates to the Chinese company's exploits, is now clear: unlike what European competitors such as Nokia and Ericsson have done in the past, Huawei is both a mobile phone manufacturer and a mobile telephone operator.
