Small transfer market: no money, no champions. Alcazar at Juve, Belotti at Florence, Baldanzi at Roma

One of the poorest editions of the transfer market ended without any major blows – The big teams are already thinking about next season

Small transfer market: no money, no champions. Alcazar at Juve, Belotti at Florence, Baldanzi at Roma

The “I would like to, but I can't” market. It ended last night winter countryside more sad of recent years, in which almost all the shots remained in the barrel, in defiance of the expectations of professionals and fans. To tell the truth, it was understood for some time that it would be a poor session, but predictions are one thing, the reality of the facts is another. Missing from the call, as we will see shortly in detail, were above all the big "historical" ones, partly due to issues of technical opportunity (in January, as we know, it is very difficult to purchase valuable pieces), and largely due to an economic crisis aggravated by cancellation of the Growth Decree, a real godsend for CEOs and sports directors.

Transfer market, the last moments: Alcaraz at Juve, Baldanzi at Roma, Belotti at Fiorentina

They thought about moving the final hours of the market Juventus, Roma e Fiorentina, who have moved to strengthen their respective staffs. The Bianconeri, a little short in midfield after the suspensions of Pogba and Fagioli, have focused on the youngster Carlos Alcaraz, namesake of the much more famous tennis champion. The Argentine, who turned 21 in November, arrives from Southampton on a costly loan deal (3,5 million) with the right to buy (49,5). Should it explode, it would become a decidedly expensive deal in June, but at the moment we can say that Giuntoli has secured an interesting prospect for an affordable sum. Of course, Allegri would have preferred a more "ready" reinforcement (we'll talk about that shortly), but it's fair to say that his Juventus is going strong even like this, so he can afford a gamble. The one who has certainly invested in the future is Roma, capable of securing Italian talent Baldanzi for 15 million plus 5 bonus and 20% on any resale. Empoli, despite the difficult situation in the standings, have given the green light and De Rossi will thus be able to count on a high-quality attacking midfielder/winger, ready to alternate with Dybala (or maybe, who knows, to play together) from now until the end May. The entrance of the young man Thomas, who scored last Saturday against Juve, favored theBelotti's exit, also because he will be back soon Abraham and the spaces would have been really minimal. The Gallo has chosen to play his (minimal) European Championship chances by going to Florence, where Italiano should guarantee him ownership despite the presence of Beltran and Nzola.

Transfer market, the missed shots: from Gudmundsson to Samardzic and Buongiorno, so many illusions...

La winter session 2024, rather than for the shots taken, she will be remembered for the ones she missed. The swirl of names was dense, but in the end most of them remained where she was, ready to return to the market only in the summer. Let's start, in chronological order, from Gudmundsson, Icelander who is doing so much good for the Genoa (9 goals and 2 assists), whose move to Fiorentina did not materialize, despite the Viola putting 24 million in cash on the table. But the American fund 777 Partners, owner of the Ligurian club since 2021, did not want to listen to reason and go back from the initial request of 30 plus bonuses, thus postponing any discussion until June. For the Viola it would have been a great coup, no doubt about it, as if Napoli e Juventus they had managed to get hold of Samardzic, who remained in Udine despite the negotiations. The closest were certainly the Azzurri, so much so that the purchase seemed to have been made: then however, as happened in the summer with the'Inter, commission problems arose and the deal fell through. Juventus tried to enter, but the costs (and Udinese's desire to sell only permanently) made it advisable to postpone everything until June; the bianconeri thus made an attempt to Bonaventura, however finding Commisso's refusal, after which they decided to turn towards Alcaraz and abandon the safe second-hand route already explored with the various Hojbjerg, Henderson e Phillips. Many names also linked to Milan, especially in the backward department: in the end, however, the various Kiwior, brassiere, Chalobah e Lenglet they remained dreams, just like Good morning, the only one for which RedBird would have authorized an extra budget (but not so high as to satisfy Cairo): Pioli will have to settle for Cage (returned from loan to Villarreal) and Terracciano.

Transfer market, the balance: Napoli protagonists, Inter are already thinking about June

All things considered, in short, only Naples, Rome and Fiorentina really made a move, with the Azzurri being the main protagonists. De Laurentiis, terrified by the prospect of not going to the Champions League, reached into his wallet a few months late to secure himself ngonge from the Verona "supermarket" (even 13 sales!), Traoré from Bournemouth, Dendoncker from Aston Villa e Mazzocchi from Salerno. On appeal, in addition to Samardzic, he missed Nehuen Perez, who remained in Udine due to Ostigard (he only wanted Genoa), but Napoli's market still remains interesting, even if it is very early to say that it will solve the problems seen so far. Then there is the case of Inter, ahead in the standings and in the schedule: Marotta e aid, in fact, they are already working for the summer, which will bring two big guns as a gift Zielinski e Taremis, both with zero parameters. Inzaghi, who still had the Canadian winger Buchanan, perhaps would have liked a reinforcement in attack, but Sanchez's reluctance to accept other destinations left everything as it is. And looking at the season, perhaps it's also a good thing...
