Sky raises prices: increases with 28-day rates

Increase the cost of Sky. This was announced by the same company led by Rupert Murdoch which communicates the novelty through a note posted on its website.

It will not be the amount of the single fee that will change, but the billing method. In fact, starting from 1 October, users will have to pay every 28 days instead of once a month regardless of the type of subscription (complete package, Sky Sport, Cinema, Family, etc.). A change which will therefore cause the number of fees due each year to rise from 12 to 13. Simply put, Sky subscribers will find themselves having to pay an extra bill at the end of the year, which will correspond to an 8,6% increase for all customers.

“In order to continue to guarantee a complete and increasingly innovative service, in a competitive and rapidly evolving context, Sky will introduce an offer model commercial already used by other operators in various sectors”, explained the company referring to the various telephone companies which over the course of the last year have applied the 28-day tariffs, however receiving a fine from Agcom for fixed telephones and internet.

But, speaking in numbers, how much extra will you pay each year? Taking a practical example, Sky Cinema users who pay a fee of 45,90 euros per month, with billing every 28 days, will have to pay an additional 45,90 euros annually. 44,90 euros more per year for customers of Sky Sport and Sky Calcio and so on, based on the characteristics of their subscription.

But someone will be able to save himself: the changes will not apply to promotional fares, which Sky traditionally offers to new customers. But be careful, when the promotion expires, the new 28-day billing method will also take effect.

Anyone who decides not to comply with the new rules will have the opportunity to exercise their own right of withdrawal without the application of additional costs or penaltiesby next September 30th. To do this, it will be necessary to send a registered letter to Sky, Post Office Box 13057 – 20141 Milan and specify the subject “Change of contractual conditions“.
