Earthquake: Ferrari, Lamborghini and Hera reach out to suppliers

Evidence of solidarity from the most important Emilian companies, such as Ferrari, Lamborghini and Hera.

Ferrari, which has not suffered direct damage in Maranello, is trying to meet some suppliers to lend a hand and not slow down production. In particular, a foundry in San Felice sul Panaro has lost all its assets, but has found space directly in the prancing horse's foundry, where it will be able to continue producing an engine cover, the so-called "lung". The top management of the car manufacturer has also worked hard to ensure that this foundry can continue to work for other customers as well, looking for space in nearby foundries. At the same time, Ferrari announced a worldwide charity auction on its website, the proceeds of which will be donated to the families of the earthquake victims. Among the items on sale is a 599XX Evo track “berlinetta” costing 1,3 million euros and a Formula 8 V1 engine. Also on sale are various items from the world of Formula 1: a V8 engine, helmets and race suits from Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa.

Lamborghini, the Sant'Agata Bolognese company of the Audi group, reopened its doors today after Tuesday's strong quake. The Casa del Toro has decided to stay closed for two days to carry out the necessary structural checks and meet the employees, many of whom live in the areas affected by the earthquake. About a hundred out of 930 are affected to varying degrees by the earthquake. To meet them, Lamborghini has decided to bring the productivity bonus forward by a month, putting it in the paycheck, upon request, from June XNUMXst, while other initiatives are being studied to help the most heavily affected employees. The house of Sant'Agata has put a psychological help desk at their disposal

Lamborghini admits a slowdown in production due to problems with suppliers who work in the so-called "bassa", the area hit by the earthquake.

Hera, the multi-utility company in the Bologna area, has decided to dip into its wallet to help the affected populations. “In a moment of such dramatic trial for Emilia-Romagna – she writes in a note – the group feels even more strongly its responsibility as a local public service company at the service of the territory and its citizens.

For this reason it has decided to join the fundraising set up by the Region in favor of the citizens affected by the earthquake, with a payment of three hundred thousand euros.

Furthermore, the Group supports and facilitates the subscription promoted by all the trade unions represented in the company among the employees, the proceeds of which will be used to support the earthquake victims".

Ducati started working at full speed again yesterday. The motorcycle company, which is based on the outskirts of Bologna, has no damaged buildings, nor additional supply problems, after those encountered with the first shock of 20 May. Stocks, for the moment, seem sufficient to guarantee a normal rhythm of production.

Earthquake. Parmesan orders jam up a farm switchboard

The Parmigiano Reggiano that survived the earthquake is literally snapped up, the Carretti farm has circulated a communication via email to reassure customers and ask not to clog the switchboards. The cheese is still there, but it's better to order it via the web, because the lines can't handle the amount of incoming phone calls. In short, solidarity is more solicitous when it is guaranteed for 18 months and can be scratched off a good plate of pasta.

The tremor that paralyzes the economy

The earthquake bulletin in Emilia still bears its penalty today, the swirl of figures relating to the swarm is impressive and it is not clear when it will stop. The hope is that it won't happen again in a serious way, as it has been for five centuries, but Tuesday's unexpected blow has created panic and paralysis. A tremor that prevents you from moving.

Panic because the future is uncertain, paralysis because it is not clear when and how the situation will normalize. There is not only a population to help, there is an entire economy to restart and the fear that "prevention" could become an even more deadly constraint than the earthquake is starting to appear. In these hours, concern is severe among those who have production activities in Finale Emilia, San Felice sul Panaro, Medolla or Mirandola. No one is authorized to enter one's own companies any more, before the civil protection and the fire brigade have viewed and authorized or there is the risk of a criminal complaint. It is not even possible to hypothesize how to reconstruct or make evaluations, because the rules to be respected are not known and no one offers certain times. The risk is having to wait 15 days to a month for an inspection and only from that moment on will there be the possibility of starting the drafting of a project, pace of production which will not be able to restart before September. But that for many, if not all, spells failure.

These concerns of the entrepreneurs are accompanied by those of many workers and trade unions, who fear a flight of companies. After the case of Magneti Marelli of Crevalcore, which seems to have partially recovered, today the alarm went off at Curved Plywoods of San Matteo della Decima, a paper converting company. "Serious attempt to transfer to Romania", denounces Filca, the union of construction workers and wood workers. In short, the earthquake could become an alibi for indiscriminate transfers even by those who do not need it. An issue that also alarms Susanna Camusso, national secretary of the CGIL: "On this point - she says - I think there must be a serious commitment from the Government, an unequivocal message". But we must also start with the reconstruction: "one cannot imagine, because one does not know how long the earthquake swarm will last, to leave everything in abeyance".

For usability checks, the Region calls upon specialized technicians

Engineers, architects and surveyors who want to apply for usability checks must have attended a damage assessment and survey course and obtained the relative certification from the Civil Protection. In this case they can send their curriculum vitae to sisma2012@regione.emilia-romagna.it
