The avenues for the tertiary sector are endless and the latest proof – if any were ever needed – is the new super-luxury hotel for pets that has recently opened in Singapore. The global economic recession hasn't spared even the rich Asian city-state, which however doesn't give up on distinguishing itself in the ostentation of the superfluous. Located in a bungalow in the diplomatic quarter, the hotel offers to dogs and cats - kept strictly separate - air-conditioned suites, spa services and gourmet menus. To get an idea of the prices, the "royal suite", which can accommodate up to three dogs, costs 490 Singapore dollars (more than 300 euros) per night, and boasts a large chandelier, faux leather orthopedic beds and a television broadcasting canine (or feline, depending on the revered guests) programs. But the hotel also offers spaces for socializing and physical exercise and if you feel like moving your paws a little in company you are spoiled for choice: a dip in the large bone-shaped swimming pool, a jog for the artificial grass lawn or, on rainy days, a hop in the treadmill room. The owners of the lucky animals can order room services for their pets: ranging from a pampering session to a complete grooming of the fur, from a "paw cure" to a mud mask, from a bath with foam micro-bubbles to skin dyeing fur in a fur salon. “If we deserve the best,” Estelle Taylor, owner and creator of the hotel told the press, “why shouldn't our best friends deserve the same?”.
