Unions-Alitalia: from today to Friday a referendum among workers on contracts and labor costs

The agreements on the cost of labor and on the contract will be submitted to a referendum vote from today at 16 pm until 8 am on Friday 25. It is essential, explain the unions Filt-Cgil, Fit-Cisl and Ugl, that the consultation takes place between the shareholders before the meeting of Alitalia which will be held on Friday. "At this point - write the three acronyms in a note - it is essential to clarify and the only way to do so, before the shareholders' meeting on 25 July, is to have all the workers of the Alitalia group express their opinion through a referendum".

Alitalia CEO Del Torchio thus expressed his concern about the dramatic situation facing his company, responding to Uil's request to hold a referendum among workers before discussing the clauses for the transfer to Ethiad. The agreements submitted to a referendum by the three unions are in fact elements of extreme importance for the operation with Ethiad to be successful.

The reason for the need to find a consultation among the workers before Friday 25th is that the labor cost agreements will be concluded when the new company is already established. Therefore the guarantee of the contractual increases and of the stability in the economic and regulatory treatments must be ascertained before the transition to the new Alitalia.
