Simest-Leonardo Committee: 3.000 euro degree prize

Simest adheres to the “Graduation Awards” initiative of the Leonardo Committee – The award will go to the best degree thesis on “Italian companies and international markets. The finance of the "Italian system" for the development of competitiveness", making available a scholarship worth 3.000 euros. Applications are open until 6 November 2017.

Simest, a company of the CDP Group and 76% controlled by Sace, has joined for the eighth consecutive year "Awards of Degree", an initiative launched in 1997 and promoted by the Leonardo Committee which has allowed hundreds of young graduates to be awarded over time and scholars from as many university institutes throughout Italy.

The company will make available a scholarship worth 3.000 euros for the best thesis on “Italian companies and international markets. The finance of the "Italian system" for the development of competitiveness" and issues related to: competitive strategies for internationalization, types of products and services offered by banks and other institutions to companies for the implementation of the internationalization strategy, methods of internationalization of companies, advantages and risks of strategies and merchant banking in the processes of expansion abroad.

“For the eighth consecutive year, we are rewarding young talents who, during their studies and with their theses, have analyzed successful cases of Made in Italy abroad - declared the President of Simest, Salvatore Rebecchini - promoting Italy in the world this is what we do every day by encouraging the development of Made in Italy and Made with Italy, helping Italian companies - especially SMEs - to face the challenge of global markets".

The Leonardo Committee, now chaired by the entrepreneur Luisa Todini, was born in 1993 on the joint initiative of Sergio Pininfarina and Gianni Agnelli, Confindustria, ICE and a group of entrepreneurs with the aim of promoting Italy as country system through various initiatives, aimed at highlighting the qualities of entrepreneurship, artistic creativity, refinement and culture that are reflected in its products and lifestyle.

"The new generations represent the future engine of our economy and today we have a duty to enhance their talent, a heritage with enormous potential to be protected and encouraged" commented Luisa Todini, President of the Leonardo Committee "It is also with this objective that the Committee Leonardo from XX editions promotes the Degree Awards: thanks to this initiative we are contributing, over the years, to support the most promising ideas and to create a direct bridge between the University and the world of work, supporting not only today's young people but entrepreneurs of tomorrow."

Among the requisites required to apply for the Simest Award: specialist degree thesis (new system) in economics or engineering disciplines, with a score of no less than 108/110, with a qualification obtained after 01/02/2017 and within the expiry date of the this notice.

For the final judgement, the following will be evaluated: the originality of the approach followed, the adequacy of the theoretical model of reference for the analysis, the level of detail of the problems related to the development of competitiveness, of the Italian company in the internationalization process, the choice of strategies to adopt for an optimal approach to internationalization and analysis of empirical evidence (case studies).

To participate, it will be necessary to send the competition participation form, the thesis in electronic format (CD Rom/USB), a brief summary (maximum 6 pages) of the same together with a cover letter signed by the supervisor and the complete CV of the candidate Leonardo Committee General Secretariat (c/o ICE, via Liszt 21 – 00144 Rome tel. 06.59927990-7991 – fax 06 5923806) no later than 6 November 2017.

The award ceremony will be held at the Palazzo del Quirinale during the ceremony for the conferment of the Leonardo Awards in the presence of the President of the Republic.
