The German company has announced that the reduction in demand for gas turbines will lead to personnel cuts, especially in the divisions active in energy and automation.

Siemens has announced a cost-cutting plan that plans to eliminate some 6.900 jobs "over the next few years," half of which in Germany. The cuts will mainly affect the divisions active in energy and automation.

"Siemens is responding to the rapid acceleration of structural changes in the production of fossil energies and in the raw materials sector", explains a press release from the German industrial giant which underlines in particular reducing the demand for gas turbines. Of the overall cuts announced, 1.100 will affect workers in Europe while another 2.500 will affect workers in the rest of the world, including 1.800 in the United States.
