Siemens, shock restructuring: 11.600 jobs at risk

Siemens confirmed that around 11.600 jobs will be affected in the restructuring process presented by CEO Joe Kaeser earlier this month, but specified that not all affected positions will necessarily need to be cut.

In an emailed note, a spokesman for the German conglomerate confirmed what Kaeser had said at a conference in New York yesterday, and reported by a news agency, that the entire restructuring process will affect 7.600 jobs all over the world, while another 4.000 are linked to the abolition of regional groupings.

"At the moment Kaeser has only said how many positions will be involved in the organizational restructuring," the statement reads. “However, removing jobs in one sector doesn't necessarily mean cutting jobs,” he added.
