The German electronics company will cut thousands of jobs between October and November due to the crisis. In fact, the German giant suffered a 43% drop in orders in 2012.

German conglomerate Siemens has entered preliminary internal talks about cutting thousands of jobs amid a weakening economy, particularly in Europe. The Boersen Zeitung newspaper made it known, not specifying the sources but adding that a definitive decision could be taken between October and November.

A spokesman for the company's press office declined to comment.

Siemens was in fact the first German group in terms of capitalization: it announced a sharp drop in orders, as customers are reducing investments in technology. Furthermore, the German company added that the year-end objectives would have been difficult to achieve.

In Germany alone, Samsung recorded a 43% drop in orders in the first 9 months of the fiscal year. CEO Peter Loescher said on the occasion that they would cut some coatis, without specifying whether they were job cuts. 

The news comes alongside news of the gradual loss of momentum in the German economy, which nevertheless remains robust within the eurozone.
