Sicily, the Right wins. M5S first party, Pd flop. And Di Maio slips away on TV

An indirect comparison between Renzi and Di Battista is possible – Cancelleri, the grillino candidate in Sicily, reached 35,5%, but the 5 Star Movement stopped at 27,60%, therefore it remains to be understood where the approximately 8 come from percentage points difference

In the Musumeci  wins in Sicily on Giancarlo Cancelleri and after a head-to-head in the morning, at 13pm, when 50 sections out of 1.596 were scrutinized, it won 5.300% of the votes, about three points above its contender M38,9S, still at 5%. They follow Fabrizio Micari (Centre-left) with 18,6%, Claudio Fava (Left) with 6% e Robert LaRosa (independentists) with 0,72%. The data comes from the electoral office of the Sicilian region.

And the first repercussions of the electoral outcome are already arriving, with Luigi Di Maio slipping away from the TV confrontation with Matteo Renzi, scheduled for Tuesday evening on Giovanni Floris' "Di tuesday" on La7. The candidate for premier of the Five Stars is called out: it seems that Alessandro Di Battista will replace him, in an "indirect confrontation" (two separate interviews) with Matteo Renzi, who instead confirms his participation.

The turnout stopped at 46,7%, about one percentage point less than the previous regional ones.

In detail, among the lists that support Musumeci, Forza Italia is at 16%, while #Diventerà bella travels at 6,20% and Fratelli d'Italia plus Salvini at 4,4%. The result of the two lists, the one directly linked to the new president in pectore should be able to overcome the 5% threshold necessary to enter the Sicilian assembly, and the other wanted by Meloni, added together they approach the result of FI and in a they kind of goad her.

As for Cancelleri, the grillino candidate, as mentioned, reached 35,5%, but the 5 Star Movement stopped at 27,60%, so it remains to be understood where the approximately 8 percentage points of difference come from. It should be remembered that separate voting has ceased in the regional elections: it is therefore possible to vote for the candidate and not for the party that supports him.

Meanwhile, at 13.30 pm in Catania
only five sections out of 1.330 had been scrutinized. In the stronghold city of Musumeci, in fact, 100 out of 330 polling station presidents resigned shortly before the vote, slowing down operations.
