Sicily, Crocetta revokes Battiato's office

“Unacceptable statements – Crocetta said -, when you are in the institutions you must respect their dignity. When Parliament is offended, all the Italian people are offended and this is not allowed for any member of the institutions".

Sicily, Crocetta revokes Battiato's office

The serious offense against the women's quotas of the Italian Parliament ("They are sluts", he said, only to specify later that the expression was aimed at both sexes) costs Franco Battiato the position of Tourism Councilor of the Sicily Region: the governor Rosario Crocetta has in fact decided to revoke it. “Unacceptable statements – Crocetta said -, when you are in the institutions you must respect their dignity. When Parliament is offended, all the Italian people are offended and this is not allowed for any member of the institutions".

The decision comes in the aftermath of the controversy that has invested the Sicilian artist for the words spoken in the European Parliament: indeed yesterday the Vate, speaking in Brussels in the role of councilor, had pointed the finger at the quality of Italian politicians and had said that "Parliament there are sluts willing to do anything", arousing the bipartisan indignation of many party and institutional representatives, the new president of the Chamber Laura Boldrini first of all. The office of physicist Antonino Zichichi has also been revoked, for various reasons and related to political differences.
